Best BIG Power Stations of 2024: Top Choices for Off-Grid Living & Emergency Home Backup
The portable power station industry has taken some massive leaps forward in 2024. From ground-breaking innovations, like the first power station with a 50-amp plug to the launch of several units that were designed to integrate seamlessly with your home’s power system, this year has been huge for off-grid enthusiasts and emergency backup users alike.
Here at The Solar Lab, we've been lucky enough to get our hands on most of these brand-new power stations, enabling us to test them in real-world conditions. This has allowed us to separate the top performers from the disappointments.
While we put out videos and articles reviewing each of these units on their own, we wanted to offer a quick roundup of the best large portable power stations of 2024, so you can find the right option for your needs. As always, every review, including this buyer’s guide, is unbiased, unsponsored, and honest.
These big-boy power stations all have 2,000Wh batteries and up, meaning they’re tailored to the needs of serious off-grid living, home backup, or even just reducing your electric bills.
Plus, we’ve got links throughout the article to dedicated reviews for each product, so you can dig deeper into the specs and features if you come across something that you like the sounds of. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something a little bit smaller than the units in this list, we also put together a recap of the Best Small Power Stations of 2024.
So, let’s dive into the best of the biggest—starting with the medium-sized units and working our way up to the behemoths.
1. The Anker F2600: Compact Power for RVs, Trailers, and at Home
Battery Capacity: 2,560Wh
Inverter: 2,400W
First up is the Anker F2600. With its robust 2,560Wh battery and 2,400W inverter wrapped inside a relatively small package, this unit punches well above its weight.
The compact, travel-friendly design also makes it an ideal choice for RVs, trailers, camping trips, off-grid vacation homes, or basically any situation or destination where portability is important.
Equipped with a dedicated 30-amp plug, the F2600 can power essential devices in your RV or trailer, though it’s not a “true” 30-amp setup due to the inverter’s size. Still, it’s plenty capable of handling lights, fans, and even a small fridge.
Its wheeled design and extendable handle make it easy to transport, and with the signature Anker unibrow-style light and numerous output ports, it’s a really capable and versatile unit.
For its price, size, and overall performance, the Anker F2600 is a standout in the entry-level category for bigger power stations. While it may be a bit too small for serious backup needs, if you need a reliable and portable power station that offers a little bit more juice than smaller units, like the Anker F1500, this is the one to beat.
2. The PECRON E3600: Affordable Performance in a No-Frills Package
Battery Capacity: 3,072Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 3,600W
When we reviewed this unit earlier in the year, we dubbed it "Mr. Pecky". While the name’s a bit funny, and it’s not the best-looking unit out there, we actually found ourselves surprised at what the PECRON E3600 brought to the table.
Given its rugged, ammo-can-like design, Mr. Pecky is a bit of a no-nonsense powerhouse, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the design seems to prioritize performance over aesthetics.
Despite its utilitarian design, the E3600 still manages to impress with its easy-to-navigate touchscreen display and, more importantly, its impressive battery capacity and output. It’s also equipped with a true 30-amp plug, making it capable of handling more demanding electronics, like power tools or small kitchen appliances.
However, what really sets the E3600 apart is its expandability. With additional battery modules, you can scale the system up to a whopping 15.4kWh, offering exceptional value for those looking to build a high-capacity setup on a budget.
While it may lack the polish of name-brand competitors, and we would have really preferred if it had some sort of handle and a set of wheels, the PECRON E3600 delivers where it counts: reliable performance at a price point that’s hard to beat.
3. OUPES Mega 3: Budget-Friendly with Smart Features
Battery Capacity: 3,072Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 3,600W
Next, we have another power station with a weird name, the OUPES Mega 3. Again, it’s a power station from a relatively unknown brand, but it’s also equipped with an expandable 3,072Wh battery and a 3,600W inverter. It may sound like a clone of Mr. Pecky, but it brings some unique features to the table and impressed us when we tested it out.
This unit made the list not only for its performance but also for its user-friendly features and really budget-friendly price. While the two units are similar in some ways, unlike the PECRON, the Mega 3 includes wheels and a suitcase handle, making it much easier to transport. It also supports smart connectivity through Wi-Fi, allowing you to integrate it with Alexa or Google Home for hands-free convenience.
While the initial app setup can be a bit finicky, connecting it to Wi-Fi ensures that the unit stays updated and adds some modern flair to a really affordable power station. It also features all of the output and input ports you would expect to see from a power station of this size, so it’s plenty versatile and really easy to use.
It might not be what pushes you to choose this unit over another, but we thought it was worth highlighting the fact that 5% of OUPES’ sales go toward providing power stations to people in need.
Combine that with really helpful U.S.-based customer support, and you’ve got a solid contender for those looking for a budget-friendly alternative to what’s on offer from the more premium and recognizable brands.
4. The EcoFlow DELTA Pro: The Original Game-Changer
Battery Capacity: 3,600Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 3,600W
When the original EcoFlow DELTA Pro debuted four years ago, it completely changed the game, fully redefining the standard for portable power stations. With an expandable 3,600Wh battery and a 3,600W inverter, this classic unit remains highly competitive in 2024 thanks to its innovative design, reliability, and a price point that just keeps getting lower.
The DELTA Pro was one of the first power stations to feature an extendable suitcase-style handle and wheels, making it portable despite its fairly hefty size and weight. It also supports expansion batteries, allowing users to scale up their power needs. EcoFlow’s smart app also remains one of the best in the industry, allowing you to seamlessly and easily control and monitor the unit.
While newer models have entered the market, the DELTA Pro is a tried-and-true option that continues to deliver versatility and value, especially as its price continues to drop as EcoFlow clears out their warehouses in favor of the DELTA Pro’s younger siblings.
5. The Anker F3800: The New Industry Standard
Battery Capacity: 3,800Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 6,000W
It may have come out of nowhere to those who weren’t paying attention to the brand’s move into the portable power station industry, but the Anker F3800 has taken the market by storm. With a 3,800Wh battery and a truly massive 6,000W inverter, this unit redefines what consumers can expect from a large power station.
What makes the F3800 stand out? Its dedicated 50-amp plug, which supports both 120V and 240V outputs—simultaneously. Whether you’re running an air conditioner or operating multiple heavy-duty tools, like a portable welder, this unit can handle it all.
The F3800 also integrates seamlessly with Anker’s Home Power Panel, allowing you to use it for home backup, running a fully off-grid home, or to offset your electricity bills. In fact, we even filmed a video demonstrating how you can use the F3800, the Home Power Panel, and the smart app to optimize the power station’s peak shaving capabilities, allowing the unit to pay for itself!
Its sturdy design includes handles, wheels, and a sleek, modern aesthetic, making it as functional as it is eye-catching. For anyone looking for top-tier performance, the Anker F3800 is a powerhouse worth considering. It may stand up like a skyscraper, but we think this beast of a unit deserves to stand tall.
6. EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3: Bigger, Better, and Quieter
Battery Capacity: 4,000Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 4,000W
Building on the legacy of the original DELTA Pro, the much newer EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 offers a robust 4,000Wh battery and a powerful 4,000W inverter. This upgraded model includes all the features that made its predecessor great—like the suitcase handle, wheels, and smart app, but it takes the performance and design up a notch.
Notably, the DELTA Pro 3 can now output 240V power, making it one of the smallest units on the market with this capability. It also integrates with EcoFlow’s latest Smart Home Panel, so, like the Anker F3800, it can offer uninterrupted backup power and advanced peak shaving capabilities to help you reduce your electricity costs.
If you’re torn between the original DELTA Pro and the Pro 3, rest assured that either choice is excellent. However, the Pro 3’s quieter operation, sleeker design, and updated features make it the more refined option for 2024.
7. EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra: The Ultimate Heavyweight
Battery Capacity: 6,000Wh (Expandable)
Inverter: 7,200W
Finally, we have the beastly EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra, the undisputed king of expandable power stations. From a design perspective, the DELTA Pro Ultra differs quite a bit from the original DELTA Pro, featuring more of a modular layout, where buyers choose how many battery units they want to stack.
Each battery module boasts a 6,000Wh capacity, and a single main unit offers a 7,200W inverter, making sure the Ultra is capable of scaling to truly enormous power levels. In fact, EcoFlow designed it primarily for whole-home backup!
Despite its size, the DELTA Pro Ultra is remarkably quiet, making it ideal for whole-home backup, off-grid cabins, businesses, or really any location where maintaining a quiet environment is important. It’s actually worth stressing that not only is it quiet, it is the quietest unit we have ever tested!
It also supports 120V and 240V outputs, integrates with EcoFlow’s Smart Home Panel, and even comes with optional wheeled carts for added portability.
If you need unparalleled capacity and versatility, the DELTA Pro Ultra is the ultimate solution—though a full expanded unit is going to come at a premium price.
