One of the things we like the most about the EG4 3,000W inverter is just how straightforward the installation process is. With some of its competitors, like the more budget-friendly Rich Solar 3kW Inverter, installation can be really finicky.
Use the two screw mounts on top and one underneath to secure it to the wall. It’s really light and easy to hold, so this is actually a fairly simple process.
Connect the battery cables, AC input, and solar input. The unit comes with pre-crimped wires, making the process easier. The included instruction manual makes this fairly straightforward, so read through it before you start with the guesswork.
Start by turning the inverter on by holding the enter button for a few seconds. From there, select your battery type using the display menu. For EG4 lithium batteries, use the lithium setting and connect the communication port for proper monitoring.
Idle Consumption: During our initial tests, the inverter consumed about 64 watts on idle mode, which is higher than expected but nothing too crazy.
Load Test: It handled over 3,000 watts for 15-20 minutes without any issues, which demonstrated to us that it actually meets EG4’s capacity rating. Another good sign.
Surge Capacity: When we pushed it, the EG4 was able to sustain surges for about 10 seconds without any noticeable problems, which is what we were hoping for.
Pass-Through Capabilities: One of the best things about this inverter is the fact that it supports pass-through power from solar or utility sources, even when batteries are depleted. When we tested it, it worked as advertised, another huge plus.
